- Source observed object once at 1900 for 5 minutes then again at 2100. At 1900 it was approx. 353° - 355° true. At 2100 it was at 325°. It was 10° - 15° above horizon.

DETAILS:

1. This investigation predicated upon a directive (AFGSI Letter No. 85) dated 12 August 1949, to report all sightings of unidentified flying objects.

AT HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, NEW MEXICO

2. Pfc. JOHN M. GUSICH, AF-57501418, 3024th Air Police Squadron, Holloman Air Force Base, was interviewed on 13 January 1950 concerning his sighting of an unusual aerial phenomenon and the following information was obtained:

a. Date of sighting: 12 January 1950.
b. Time of sighting: Observed for 5 minutes at 1900 to 1905 and at 2100 hours on 12 January 1950.
c. Where sighted: Hollo

i. Direction of flight: Observer did not keep object in sight long enough to determine overall movement of the object; however, at 1900 hours the object was moving to the west, and when sighted again at 2100 it was still west of where it was first observed. Object moved erratically up, down, to the right, and to the left in its general path of movement from east to west.

j. Tactics or maneuvers: Object traversed a predominately level path; changes in altitude were comparatively minute and erratic.
