31 Mar Alabama A/C UFO - 31 March 66 At 2125E the following info was called in by a Major Phillips, Emergency Actions Officer at Craig A7B, Ala.: ~~A Mr. Rutledge of radio station WHBB, Selma, Alabama called Major Chapman to report the following three UFO sightings which were phoned in to the radio station:~~ 1. @ 1818 a young lady - no name, age, or address given - called to report a sighting at 1814 C. Reported a very small, very high, pale orange object, moving in a straight line. Object appeared to be short, round, and blunt and was visible for approximately 10 minutes.

Weather at Craig was as follows: 1754 C - clear 15, temp 79, dew pt. 41, wind calm, altimeter 29.71; 1855 C - clear 10, temp 76, dew pt. 40, wind calm, altimeter 29.71. Major Chapman stated that at approx. 1811 C he and another officer were on the flight line and noted a B-52 at an estimated 20,000', 3-5 miles east of Craig, pulling short contrails. Both the bird and the contrails were glowing orange, and Maj. Chapman suspects that this is what the people saw. (WHBB has a tape recording of the first conversation)

2. Approximately one minute after completion of the first call a male adult called from downtown Selma to report an orange blob. Hung up with out giving any additional information. 3. About a minute later ~~another~~ a young man called to report an orange glow high in the sky. No further info.
