DETAILS:

1. This investigation predicated upon AFCSI Letter No. 85, dated 12 August 1949, to report all sightings of unidentified flying objects.

AT ALAMOGORDO, NEW MEXICO

2. S/Sgt MARTIN K. BOONE was interviewed on 20 February 1950 concerning his sighting of an unusual aerial phenomenon and the following information was obtained:

a. Date of sighting: 20 February 1950. ☑
b. Time of sighting: Object was sighted at 0530 hrs. MST and remained in view for approximately 5 minutes. ☑
c. Where sighted: One mile south of Tularosa on U.S. Highway 54, while traveling in a truck. Object

(4) Size: Approximately the size of a half dollar held at arm's length.

i. Direction of flight: Object did not appear to move.

j. Tactics or Maneuvers: None

k. Evidence of exhaust: None

l. Effect on clouds: At the time of disappearance, a cloud moved in front of the object; however, the object did not appear to have any effect on the clouds.

m. Lights: Object itself appeared to be a very brilliant light.

n. Support: None visible.

o. Propulsion: Unable to determine.

p. Control and stability: Object did not appear to move.

q. Air ducts: None visible.

attracted their attention to the object was its brilliance and extremely large size. This object did not change shape, leave a trail, or emanate any flame or color.

4. Weather conditions at that time were an overcast in the near vicinity, moving toward the object and which finally covered the object. There was no radar in operation at the time of the sighting. Checks were made with the Base Weather Squadron, Holloman AFB, White Sands Proving Ground, and Biggs Air Force Base, and it was determined that no testing devices had been released which would account for the s
