SUBJECT: Initial Report of Investigation of UFO

TO: AFSC (FTD)
Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio 45433

1. The following information is presented as directed by paragraph 14, AFR 200-2:

a. Description of the object:

(1) Shape: Bright light.

(2) Size: Compared with a half-dollar held in the hand at about an arm's length.

(3) Color: Yellow in back blending to white in front.

(4) Number: One.

(5) Formation: None.

(6) Discernible feat

45 seconds.

c. Manner of observation:
(1) Ground - visual.
(2) No optical aids were used.

d. Time and date of sighting:
(1) 0010 Zulu (1910 local), 22 January 1965.
(2) Light conditions: Night.

e. Location of observer: The observer was driving on West Broad
Street, Richmond, Virginia, when he saw the reported object. He
immediately stopped his car in the 2400 block of West Broad Street
and got out to observe the object.

f. Observer identification:

(2) Age: 26 years.
(3) Address: [redacted] and 30, Virginia.

Ceiling: None.
Visibility: 12 miles.
Cloud cover: high, thin scattered 5/10ths (1/10th opaque).
Thunderstorms: None.
Vertical temperature gradient: surface: 45°F., 200 ft. 53°F., normal lapse rate above 200 feet.

h. The only unusual meteorological condition reported is the temperature described in g (2) above.

i. No interceptive action was taken due to a Radar time delay from the sighting time to the reporting time. Mr. [redacted] reported his sighting to Langley AFB Command Post at 2100 local, 23 January 1965.

j. The Richmond, Virginia FAA facility reported an inbound on an Army plane whic
