Incident #181 -- McKeesport, Pennsylvania -- c. 8 July 1948

Information offered by these two untrained, uncritical, and excitable observers can be given little weight. There does not appear to be anything astronomical about this incident; chances are that the two women saw ordinary aircraft with sunlight reflected from fuselage but not from wings.

Witness saw what looked like a "big, silver plate" zooming noiselessly overhead in the direction of Kennywood Park.

"Oh look, that's not a plane, screamed Mrs. ~~Vernon~~ to her neighbor, Mrs. ~~Col~~," it looked like one of those flying saucers."

Mrs. ~~Vernon~~ said the disc was about 12 to 15 inches in diameter. It disappeared in a cloud bank but reappeared on the far side and was seen by Mrs. ~~Vernon~~. They followed the direction of the disc until out of sight.
