1. The Intelligence Division of the 4228th Strategic Wing,
Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi, received a call on 12 January
1959 from Captain Snyder, Eelin Air Force Base, Florida, relating
to a white box and balloon found 25 December 1958 by a civilian,
Mr. [redacted], Russellville, Alabama.

2. Mr. [redacted] was contacted by the Intelligence Division and
he stated

This is a piece of equipment used by the Army under unclassified project New Product and Air Forces Stop Light. It is launched at White-lands, N. Mex. Action is being taken to forward to missile support agency White-lands missile Range. The equipment has an acoustic circuit for picking up sounds in the atmosphere.
