2 Maneuvers were just as those described in his letter, and he said that just before it speeded up, its flames narrowed to about one-third of their former diameter and became a purplish green. There was about one-quarter the size of the moon. He said it was much like an acetylene torch, which first burns yellowish and then when adjusted get purplish green. Had it continue in its original course, it would have passed him, but it made a U turn looped in the air. Winkel exhibited a love of detail and was very careful in statements.
