SIGHTING IS BMI. FROM THE HILLSGROVE R.I. AIRPORT CONTROL. THE MANEUVERS OF THE OBJECT WOULD SUGGEST AN AIRCRAFT WITH LANDING LIGHTS ON, EITHER HAVING TAKEN OFF OR MAKING AN PAGE 3 RUCIEWA 9994 UNCLAS

APPROACH TO HILLSGROVE FLYING IN A DIRECT LINE TO THE OBSERVERS. THIS WOULD EXPLAIN WHY THE LIGHTS DIDN'T MOVE BUT WERE BRIGHT AND APPEARED BRIGHTER AS THE AIRCRAFT ACTUALLY PROGRESSED TOWARDS THEM. THE LIGHTS STARTING TO MOVE FORWARD AND BECOMING GRADUALLY VERTICAL OF ONE ANOTHER AND

Enclosed is a detailed report on UFO sightings which occurred on 30 March 1966 between 8:00 - 10:00 PM EST at Rehoboth, Massachusetts.

Memo for the Record 18 April 1966

Called the wing intelligence officer at Otis AFB Autovon 552-1290 ext 4276 Investigating officer said that at the time of the sighting (0120Z / 31 Mar 66, Rehoboth, Mass.) the weather was deteriorating rapidly and there was a haze in the area. The observers were close to the Hillsgove R.I. Airport and in a direct line to the approach of the airport. There was heavy aircraft traffic in the area at that time. He believed that the cause of the sighting was the landing or navigation lights on an aircraft approaching said airport.

## Rehoboth Residents See Flying Objects

At least a dozen Rehoboth residents, including the town's postmaster, have reported seeing unidentified flying objects since March 23, according to Police Chief Oscar A. B. Berghman of Rehoboth.

Investigators from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena, a private research organization, have questioned at least two of the witnesses.
