OBSERVING A LARGE ELIPTICAL OBJECT (LOOKING WNW) OVER HUDSON RIVER (APPROX POSIT 40-45N 74-01W) AT 040545Z. OBJECT OBSERVED WITH NAKED EYE FOR 5 OR 6 MINUTES. OBJECT WAS ABOUT THE SIZE OF A BLIMP, FLUORESCENT BLUISH WHITE COLOR, HEIGHT OVER 1000FT (OBSERVER ABOUT 4 CITY BLOCKS AWAY). THERE WERE NO DESCERNING FEATURES OR DETAILS, EXHAUST TRAILS, OR SOUND. OBJECT WAS STATIONARY AND DEPARTED VERY RAPIDLY ON WNW HEADING OVER HORIZON.
