Cleveland, Ohio 7/29/64 Dear Sirs, Tonight, July 29 was exceptionally clear. I was looking in the direction of Andromeda when I saw this reddish light, almost equal to that of Arcturus in Bootes. It was traveling at a very fast rate of speed as compared with the Eclo satellites. When I scrutinized closer, I saw a smaller red light, almost equal to that of a 5th magnitude star, traveling ahead of the object (I was observing it with a pair of binoculars). I saw this object before. It was the same reddish object which I observed tonight. This time I saw another bright light appear next to it so…

this smaller light was this time equal to that of a third magnitude Star and was easily seen without optical aid. Caries this month I had erroneously reported the Echo satellites as UFO. However, I thought that this object observed some attention because of its great speed and the incessant small light accompanying it. It traveled northeast to southwest through the constillations Cygnus, dyra, all the way to Ophiachus and then it went behind the trus. If this turns out to be another satellite, I'll feel like a complete moron and will not bother you again. Please notify me I you know what it is…

29 Jul 64 Cleveland, Ohio for use August 17, 1964 Dear Mr. [redacted]: This is in response to your recent letter concerning an observation of a satellite-like object on July 29, 1964. Since the motion of this object was to the west, conflicting with known satellite orbits, and also since you indicated that the speed was considerably faster than ECHO, it is possible that you observed a high-flying aircraft since air traffic in your area is very heavy. Sincerely, MASTON M. JACKS Major, USAF Public Information Division Office of Information Mr. [redacted] Cleveland, Ohio
