SPOT INTELLIGENCE REPORT
SUBJECT: Report of Unidentified Flying Object Sighted on 8 August
1956 in General Vicinity of Quartzite, Arizona
SPECIAL INQUIRY
TO: Director of Special Investigations
Headquarters United States Air Force
Washington 25, D. C.

1. SYNOPSIS: At approximately 2300 hours, 8 August 1956,
(redacted), allegedly observed
an unidentified flying object flying directly overhead while at a
location east of U. S. Highway 95 and approximately twenty miles
south of Quartzite, Arizona. The object flew in a northwest-
northeasterly direction (variance of opinion), maintainin

3. On 20 August 1956, the San Diego OSI Detachment received the correspondence referenced above which is quoted verbatim for your information:

"On the evening of August 8, 1956, I was accompanied with Mr. [redacted]. On a camping trip into the Arizona desert. The approximate location of our camp was about 20 miles south of Quartzite, Arizona, and 2 miles to the east of State Highway 95. At approximately 11:00 P.M. in the Leavens directly above us

"I searched the skies for two hours after the incident for sightings of this kind. I also tried and attempted to pre-imagine the incident which I had seen to see if it could have been a figment of my imagination, however, it was impossible for me to develop visually the incident which I had seen.

"Hoping this may be of some value in co-relating unidentified flying objects."
