On the night of 7 February 1953 between 2230 and 2300 hours, I was on the scene. Noticed nothing unusual except one pip which painted about 65 (Degrees) 165 miles which was not big enough and did not paint long enough to get a reading of it. After sector searching from 010 (Degrees) to 100 (Degrees) regarded the pip as interference.

D/I FEAF COMMENT:

1. The time of the incident corresponds with the time when pibal weather
balloons are launched by all weather stations (approximately 2100 hours local time).

2. In this area the visibility is excellent on clear nights. The description
of the object, together with the time element, strongly indicates a lighted weather
balloon, probably launched
