SUBJECT: CONFIDENTIAL

Subj: Sighting of possible unconventional aircraft; report of

(4) Observers were located as indicated in paragraph (3) above. Object was approximately one (1) to one and one-half (1-1/2) miles to the southeast of observers at the southeast end, south side of runway #30, NAS Lakehurst, at an estimated altitude of 5000 feet. Runway #30 is a Northwest-Southeast runway.

(5) There were no other known witnesses. The two observers have been assigned to duty in the tower as operators for the past twenty-one months and are considered to b

ABOUT 2119 ON 27, DECEMBER 1950 AN AIRSHIP WAS MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN OUT FROM RUNWAY 30. WHEN A STAR-LIKE LIGHT APPEARED OVER HER TO THE SOUTHEAST. IT CIRCLED VERY SUDDENLY, AND HEADED SOUTHEAST AT AN ALTITUDE OF ABOUT 5,000 FEET. FURTHER EXAMINATION WITH BINOCULARS REVEALED IT TO BE CIRCULAR OR OVAL IN SHAPE. IT BECAME ILLUMINATED AT REGULAR INTERVALS AND WAS TRAVELLING AT VERY HIGH SPEED. THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE IN NO MORE THAN THREE-QUARTERS OF A MINUTE.
