This is in reply to your letter regarding an aerial object which you observed and were unable to identify on the night of September 6, 1965.

The description of multiple lights is similar to an observation of an aircraft refueling operation. Information received from the Eighth Air Force indicates that a B-47 and a KC-135 were enroute from the New England area to the "speedway" refueling area near central Indiana. Dear Sir:

I wish to record for your information a phenomena which was observed by a number of individuals last evening.

Illicit was comparatively isolated area of Cattaraugus County. There is a farm road which runs Korke & South thro my property. Yesterday being Labor Day a number of guests arrived. We have several saddle horses and a small jog cart pulled by one of the horses. We were giving our guests a chance to ride and drive behind a horse and I was leading on one of the saddle horses. While observing these actions I listened carefully and could hear distant rumbling but could not say if this from the objects or a trade on some distant road, tho this was unlikely because of the time and day - Labor Day.

We tried to explain the phenomena. At first I thought it might be the new "brilliantly lighted" aircraft which caused such a stir in the West. However, there were single lighted objects.
