An Unidentified Flying Object sighting in the vicinity of St. Petersburg, Florida was reported to MacDill AFB, Florida on 22 Sept 56. Object was sighted at 0126 EST (0926Z) by a young man, [redacted] and his mother, who reside at [redacted] Ave, South, in St. Petersburg. Sighting was observed for approximately seven (7) minutes by both persons from a second floor were used. Binoculars of 8

Object appeared as shown in sketch 3A part of the time, and as shown in 3B part of the time. Observer believed these two sketches to be good examples of how object looked through focused binoculars. Light diffusion could possibly have caused observer's uncertainty as to positive shape of openings.
