This investigation was requested by the District Commander, DO #20, McChord AFB, MeGhord Field, Washington, predicated upon inforaation received from Bq Idaho ORO, Boise, Idaho, which invited attention to e newspaper erticle printed in the Idaho Statesman", Boise, Idaho, on is December 1948, Said article stated that local weather-purean employees sighted an unusual object at 0730 hours on 18 December 1946, described as a vall of fire which left « trail of smoke across the sky. 3. Mr. B. H. JOBS, Chief Meteorologist, United States Weather Bureem, Municipal Airport, Bdse, Idaho, was interviewed and stated that he sighted the smoke trail in the sky at approximately 0750 hours, on 16 December 1948 from the roof of the hangar which houses the veather Bureau and Waited Airlines at Boise Municipal Airpert. His attention was draw %o0 the smoke trail by Mr. ROGERS.
