AIRLINER WAS LANDING AT THE APPROXIMATE TIME OF SIGHTING. REF PARA 14K: DAVIS, ANDREW R, QST LT USAF INTELLIGENCE OFFICER, SIOUX CITY AIR DEFENSE SECTOR. DUE TO AN EARLIER REPORT THIS OFFICER WAS MAKING A VISUAL OBSERVATION OF SKY CONDITIONS, ETC., AT THE TIME OF THIS SIGHTING. A RED LIGHT WAS OBSERVED EAST OF THE AIR BASE TRAVELING TO THE SOUTH. NO SOUND WAS HEARD DUE TO NOISE OF GENERATORS AND HIGH WINDS. THE RED LIGHT IS THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN THE RUNNING LIGH

Reported sighting 3 objects flying 3 to 5 miles southeast of Omaha. Heading in a southeasterly direction. He says they looked like stars and there are light aircraft flying around them. The light aircraft seemed to be surveying these objects. He sighted these at 0235. City Air Defense Center confirms no radar contact.

In the above message it stated that the principal witness, Mrs [redacted], reported multiple observations of objects which she could not identify. The various objects resemble possible balloon observations. In paragraph k of your message you indicate that the sighting was probably a weather balloon. Analysts concur in this evaluation. However, the additional sightings mentioned included a photograph of an
