The duration, direction of flight, and general description are characteristic of a re-entry observation of a satellite component or space debris. A check with SPABATS indicated that no such object was scheduled for re-entry at that time. Oct 2, 1965 Dear Sir, On October 1, 1965 at approximately 7:55 pm a friend & I observed what we believed to be some or entirely fragments from space. The light we saw was too low in the sky and of too long duration to be a shooting star. The color was yellowish, almost as dark as the moon that might. The direction of travel was from northwest to south east. The shape of the light reminded me of a fleeting head of evergreen's what tear dropped but cleaning a wide tail. We observed this streak from St. Marys Danger Station, Glacier National Park, Montana. No sound was heard by either one …
