# THE SIGHTING OF A FLYING SAUCER-TYPE OBJECT

Place Observed: Centelleville, Queen Anne's County, Md.
Date and Time: March 20, 1952 - 10:42 p. m.
Length of Time Object was in Sighted: Approximately 30 seconds

## DESCRIPTION OF OBJECT:

An orange-yellow saucer shaped light, two or three times the size of the average wing light on a airplane. It was travelling about halfway between the horizon and zenith from the southwest to southeast at a very fast rate of speed, and twice it jumped vertically at an extremely fast speed and continued on at the higher level. On 1 May 1952 Lt. F.J. Bippell
interviewed Mr. [redacted] Three possibilities exist.
a. aircraft
b. meters
c. unknown

A. If it were on jet aircraft leaving 90°
in 30 seconds or 980 mph it would have been about 2 miles
or 10,500' away from the source. At 10,000' the
source would have heard the room, he reported no
sound.

If the object were 4 miles away, the distance
at which the sound at an aircraft may not be
heard under certain conditions the speed would have
had to be 2 times 980 or 960 mph which
is higher than any Roman AK speed, i.e. AK, that would
be over the Washington area at night.

Report of Sighting

Mr. [redacted] of [redacted], Washington, D.C., [redacted]. The sighting took place at Centerville, Queen Anne's County, Md., on 20 March 1952 at 2242.

The object was described as a dull, orange-yellow, saucer-shaped light resembling an old-fashioned light bulb. The size of the light was twice to three times that of an ordinary a/c wing light.

The object was traveling very fast and seemed about five miles away from the observer halfway between the horizon and zenith.
