Dear Mr. [redacted]

SEP - 9 1965

The general description of the object which you observed on the night of 11 August 1965 resembles that of other reported meteors of the fireball class. These meteors appear at a low altitude and are extremely bright, having a magnitude greater than -3.

We are forwarding your letter to Dr. J. Allen Hynek, the civilian consultant to Project Blue Book, for his professional opinion on this observation. Should he feel that the object was not a meteor, he will no doubt contact you for additional information.

Sincerely,

JOHN P

Gentlemen:

I wish to report to you that on the evening of Wednesday, August 11, 1965, at approximately 11:15 P.M., I saw what appeared to me to be an unidentified flying object.

My point of observation was in the community of Far Rockaway, New York. I was facing in an Easterly direction gazing upward. I saw an object of bright intensity move through the sky at an extremely fast rate of speed for about one (1) second and disappear. The glow from the object
