DETAILS:

1. This investigation predicated upon a directive, AFCSI Letter No. 85, dated 12 August 1949, to report all sightings of unidentified flying objects.

AT ALAMOGORDO, NEW MEXICO

2. Mr. [redacted] was interviewed on 5 December 1949 concerning his sighting of an unusual aerial phenomenon, and the following information was obtained:

a. Date of sighting: 3 December 1949.
b. Time of sighting: 1805 hours, MST.
c. Where sighted: 105° 58' West Latitude
32° 52' North Longitude

1. Effect on clouds: No visible clouds.

m. Lights: None. (Sparks were emanating from object and were more pronounced in the lower rear edge of object. These sparks were orange to white in appearance. Intensity of the center part of the object remained the same, however, the intensity of the sparks along the edges varied.)

o. Propulsion: Unable to determine.
