1. Request your comment on the acceptability of the following
release to Mr. [redacted] of the Associated Press:

Captain, USAFR, [redacted], presently on
inactive duty, did not see the "flying saucers" himself. He
did turn in a report on an alleged sighting of 3 or 4 shiny
objects by 3 TACA crewmen. The sighting supposedly took place
over Guatemala City Airport on March 15, 1950.

"Could we run a check on this report?

"A reserve officer-pilot, [redacted], who recalled AD from job flying for an airline, was flying, after recall, over Central America area. While in the area of Guatemala he saw object which he believed a flying saucer. Subsequently he saw several others.

SUBJECT: Sighting of Unidentified Flying Object, Guatemala City Airport, Guatemala, 15 March 1950.

1. SYNOPSIS: , Captain USAFR and pilot for commercial airline, states that three American Crew members TACA, commercial airline, claim the saw "flying saucers" 15 March

(5) No known celestial phenomena or planets unaccounted for.

(6) Distance of object from observers - estimated altitude 25,000 feet. Flying in horizontal level flight.

(7) Time objects in view - unknown.

(8) Appearance of objects:
(a) Color - silver
(b) Shape - oval, slightly elliptical
(c) Size - appeared larger than a DC-4 (C-54)

(9) Direction of flight - directly from south to north, passing directly over runway Guatemala City Airport, Guatemala which runs south to north.

(10) Tactics or maneuvers - when first object came into sight, it flew no

(16) Control and Stability - objects appeared to be very stable.

(17) Air ducts - none noted.

(18) Speed estimated the speed is over 1,000 mph, possible 1400-1500 mph. also stated that the objects moved so fast it was very difficult to keep his eye on them.

(19) Manner of disappearance - objects disappeared from view in the distance
