Dear Gentlemen:

I am not sure as to what department handles U. F. O. sightings therefore it is my wish that you please refer this report to whom it may concern.

On the evening of July 6, 1959 at twilight I noticed a reddish silver object which appeared to be motionless in the western sky. In size it was close to the diameter of the sun; however it was not round but distinctly oblong much like a fountain pen. As I watched the ob

in a parallel line. This white substance was entirely unlike any jet vapor trail I have observed. It is hard to explain the difference but it was perceptibly different. For one thing it was exceedingly thin and seemed to have a fluffy appearance.

It was shortly after I noticed the trail that it began to move. It was close to some civus clouds and therefore I could judge it movement which was steady and rapid. Fearing that I would lose sight of it I ran into the house and found a pair of 7x50 binoculars. Through these I failed to find the object again for about a half a minute then it emerged

This is to acknowledge your letter of 7 July 1959 concerning an Unidentified Flying Object sighting on 5 July 1959 at New Albany, Mississippi.

Your letter contained insufficient data to allow a valid conclusion. Therefore, request you complete the inclosed Air Force questionnaire in regard to this sighting and forward the completed paper to the Air Technical Intelligence Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, for analysis and evaluation.
