UFO Sighting, Rolla, Missouri

Reference the attached letter from Mr [redacted] requesting information on her unidentified observations. The following is a suggested reply:

Dear Mr [redacted]:

We have checked the satellite schedule on the Echo and Pegasus satellites for the night of 4 October 1965 and find that only Pegasus I was in the area. However, this satellite was moving Southeast and not Northeast. There are more than thirty satellites of third magnitude or brighter orbiting the Earth at this time. It is quite likely that one of these

Dear Sir:

Recently, two unidentified flying objects have come to my attention particularly because this area of the country is near where the rash of UFO's were recently reported in newspapers across the country.

The first sighting was on the night of September 15 (or possibly the 15, but one of those two days) at 7:00 or 8:00 in the evening (again, somewhere within those limits). Standing in our side yard, looking up I saw what at first I thought was

1. The objects were too high to be planes, their lights also were steady without blinking.

2. The red object was traveling away from the white object and thus looked as if it came from it.

3. Could this red object be a reentering capsule of information from one of our satilites? That there were two sightings of the same course seems to clearly justify that it is a satilite. This is my husband's conjecture.

We would be very interested to know if there is an official record of the satilite and the "reentering capsule". Or is there another more plausible explanation? Thank you.

Sincerely,
