# Meteor Seen In Carolina Cities

Observers in three South Carolina cities reported seeing a huge flaring object shooting across the heavens last night. Residents Greenville, Columbia and Charleston all reported seeing the object probably a meteor, about 8 p. m. (EST). The altitude of the "ball fire" was reported at various from 300 to 4,000 feet.

Mrs. Archie Knight of Charleston said it was "very bright and very large, and had sparks trailing for at least 15 feet. It was about as big as a 10-quart bucket

TO: All Concerned

1. In compliance with letter, Department of the Air Force, subject as above, dated 6 February 1948, the following information is submitted pertaining to an object believed to be a "Flying Discs" that was seen in this area on the night of 24 April 1950.

a. Location and time of sighting: Seen over Sumter, South Carolina suburbs about 7:50 P.M. on the 24th of April.
