Multa 02/21152 Jul 3 The following was extracted from the Staff Duty Officer's Report dated 5 Jul 58: 0905-Called Col Carter in Washington, used 330-99. The Msg was: at 02 2115Z Steamship African Planet reported a Bright Red Missile Traveling from West to East which disintegrated in mid air. SS African Planet was at 100 20'S and 00025 W. Col Carter said msg apparently came originally from Navy and was relayed to Intell by Command Post, also a check with Partick should range shot down. Relayed to Capt Gregory.
