2.5 May Ansted, W. Va. September 2, 1964 Dear Mr. [redacted] This is in reference to an Unidentified Flying Object report you forwarded to the Air Force. Evaluation of the information you submitted indicates that the object you observed was a meteor. The duration of 1-2 seconds, the description of the object with a flaming tail and a vertical fall through 25° of arc are consistent with this analysis. 16il May 25, 1964 Austad, N. Va. To whom it May Concern, Dear Sir: At approximately 8:30 PM on the evening of May 25, 1964, to the North-East of the City of Austad, I saw a falling object. It was a ball of fire and looked to be 2 to 3 feet in diameter with a tail of approximately 40 ft. long. This object was burning of a very high heat because it was as bright as a welding arc, or of a magnesium flair. Shortly before, a jet had flown over traveling South west. I did not see it but there was a trail in the sky. This falling object could have been a rocket, a satellite, or a meteorite. In…
