Dear Sir:

On the night of Friday, July 8th, 1960
and myself were playing ball outside
of the Hawthorne Memorial Pool in Hawthorne, New Jersey
when I looked up and saw a blob of white light about the
size of a quarter traveling across the sky to the approximate
northwest. This we took to be a flying saucer as it
traveled across approximately one sixth of the sky before
it disappeared approximately 5-7 seconds after we first
sighted it. We estimated the altitude at which it was flying

This is to acknowledge your letter of 8 July regarding the sighting of an unidentified flying object by you and your friends.

Your letter contains insufficient information for a valid conclusion. Therefore, request you and your friends complete the attached Air Force Questionnaires in regard to the sighting and forward the completed paper to the Aerospace Technical Intelligence Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
