He completed 43 combat missions as a waist and ball-turret gunner on B-17's in the 8th Air Force; is credited with one (1) FW-190; spent 10 1/2 months as a POW. On arriving in Reno, Sgt ~~stopped at the Sheriff's Office~~ and inquired as to the nearest Army Intelligence Office. Everything was closed because of Labor Day and Sgt ~~made~~ his report to the police personnel who stated they would see that it was forwarded through appropriate channels. They also stated his was the fifth report of that type turned in that day.
