Dear Mr. [redacted]

We have received your report of an aerial object which you could not identify on May 1, 1965.

The object you observed has been evaluated as a satellite. ECHO I passed to the north of St. Augustine near the zenith at 65 degrees elevation moving southeast at 9:04 PM on May 1.

For your information, the motion of satellites, while constant, may appear to waive, stop, or change in brilliance due to atmospheric conditions at the time of observation.

Thank you for reporting your observation to the Air Force.

Sincerely,

JOHN P. SPAUL
