Dear Mr. [redacted]:

This is in reply to your request for an evaluation of an aerial object which you observed on 4 August 1965.

Your description of the object indicates that it is similar to the many reports of satellites which we receive. However, the information included in your letter is insufficient to firmly establish its identity as a satellite. It is requested that you complete the enclosed FTD Form 164 so that a firm evaluation can be made.

Sincerely,

Att. U.F.O. Unit
Birs,

The writer and three friends were encamped at Tillicum Beach Camp about three miles south of Waldport, Oregon on the night of Aug. 4, 1965. Some time between 10 and 10:20 P.M. P.D.T., we observed high overhead, U.F.O. similar to a bright star moving in a broken line with varying intensity. It moved thru (+) or (-) 5° arc under our observation. The U.F.O. was observable for approximately 15 seconds. May we have Air Force identification or evaluation of said unidentified flying object.
