UFO SIGHTING

Received a call from the Command Post Duty Officer, Major J. E. Edwards, Warner-Robbins AFB, Ga. who passed on information to us relating to an UFO sighting. His was third party information since it was passed to him by the Officer of the Day who actually interviewed the individuals reporting the sighting.

Mr. [redacted] observed the object and was corroborated by Mr. [redacted] of the same city. Observation was made at approximately 2345 EST 6 Aug 60 at Sandersville, Ga. which is 3 m

SUBJECT: Unidentified Flying Object

TO: AMC (ATIC), Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio

1. Reference is made to your teletype AFCIN-4E2K 8-2443-3, pertaining to ATIC receiving a telephone call from Major J. E. Edwards reporting the sighting of an UFO on 6 Aug 60 by Mr. [redacted] of Tennille, Georgia, which was corroborated by Mr. [redacted] the same city.

2. An investigation was conducted by this headquarters on 17 Aug 60 in

(2) Angle or elevation when first observed: About 50 degrees past overhead, traveling northwest at alternating high and low speeds.

(3) Angle or elevation upon disappearance: Disappeared into the clouds and blended with the skies in a northwest direction.

(4) Description of flight path: Held a straight course and did not execute any maneuvers.

(5) How did the object disappear: Instantaneously to the northwest.

(6) How long was the object(s) visible: Estimated to range from 20 seconds to 1 minute.

c. Manner of observation:

(1) Ground visual.

(2) Naked eyes - no optical aids.

(e) Clouds: C.8.; East through SW, moving NE (occasional
lightening in clouds east through southwest).

(f) Temperature: 74°.

h. No unusual activity or conditions which might account for
the sighting.

i. No interception or identification taken locally.

j. No local information available as to air traffic or balloon
releases which could possibly have accounted for the sighting in the
area.

k. Due to distance from the area in question (approximately 65
miles) and the time that has expired since the initial sightings,
neither vital data nor information of value was gat
