INT 5150 — 1955-04-22 — Leawood, Kansas City, Missouri (98th and Overbrook)
Narrative
On 22 April 1955 at 0200Z, a civilian observer in Leawood, Kansas City reported a round white object half the size of a dime held at arm's length. The object was noticed due to lack of sound and was observed making erratic, sharp turns at incredible speed before disappearing behind low hills. The base weather officer at Grandview AFB stated a searchlight was making a brilliant white path on an invisible bank of cirrus clouds at 25,000 ft, which could account for the perception of incredible speed. Conclusion: searchlight reflections on clouds.
