Narrative

An Eastern Air Lines pilot from his home in Atlanta observed a stationary spherical UFO NW of Atlanta Municipal Airport for approximately 2 hours. Roughly two-thirds of the main body disintegrated, releasing visible gas, smoke and liquid; the remaining portion accelerated rapidly to high speed and vanished to the northeast. The observer used 8x binoculars and was described as a frequent observer of heavenly bodies. The 4602D AISS initial assessment connected the sighting probably to Project Moby Dick balloons.
