AISS-UFOB-110-55 — 1955-04-09 — Plattsburg, New York (BQ 3342)
Narrative
At 0627Z on 9 April 1955, a GOC observer near Plattsburg, New York, sighted a large red object to the east. It disappeared and reappeared at 0840Z lasting approximately 30 minutes. At 0921Z a large round object with blue, orange, white, and red coloration and a protruding tail was sighted 8-10 miles east of the post. The object rose and finally disappeared at 1035Z. The observer took 5 photographs (not received by the reporting station) and drew a free-hand sketch. Observed through 8x30 binoculars. Headquarters concluded that due to the delay in receipt, suspicion of a hoax, the fantastic nature of the preliminary report, and the fact that no other persons observed the object, no investigation was authorized. Unresolved.
