KRAG 8939 — St. Ignace, Michigan
Narrative
A civilian observer reported a single circular, white, street-light-like object at coordinates 46 deg 04'N 85 deg 16'W (St. Ignace, Michigan area), observed at night for approximately one hour. The observer estimated the object to be at 100 feet altitude in darkness. The initiator of the report (Capt George F. Soniak, USAF) noted that altitude estimation in darkness is difficult and concluded that, given the definitively clear sky, the object may have been a bright star. Rawinsonde weather balloons from Sault Ste Marie Weather Station were noted.
