Narrative

At 0200Z on 26 September 1955, Mr. Carl L. Ferguson, age 45, observed three flashing red lights forming an equilateral triangle eight miles northwest of New Alexandria Radio Beacon, thirty miles east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Estimated altitude was 50 to 500 feet above terrain, speed twenty to thirty mph, and total observation about ten minutes. The lights had the ability to hover and flight appeared controlled, traveling level until passing behind a hill. The investigating officer concluded the probable reason for the report was three dirigibles in the area at the time of the sighting.
