Narrative
At approximately 112259Z January (1957) a civilian guard at the main gate of St. Albans sighted an object described as 'skimming at 40,000 feet which lit up and went out.' The sighting was reported by Warrant Officer Bepreaux, Administrative Watch Officer at St. Albans to COMTHREE at 112325Z. An unidentified naval person with QM also sighted the object. The report was disseminated to the Director of Intelligence HQ USAF, ATIC, ADC, EADF, DNI, COMEASTSEAFRON, and COMTHIRD Naval District.
