751 OPS 048-Y — 1956-11-02 — Ventura, California area (radar target near NAS)
Narrative
On 2 November 1956, the 770th ACWRON Senior Director Lt Donald J Barras and Delta Crew reported a missile-shaped object with long slim body, red wings and silver body, single, no tail or sound, capable of very short radius of turn at very high 45-degree NE orbit. Tracked by radar (Peachtree) and observed visually. Lt Barras believed it was not an aircraft in an orbit; checked with P-2, P-30, P-39, and Erskine to determine if they had anything in that position with negative result. No pictures taken as object could not be spotted in that area.
