At 091230Z on 9 December 1953, four observers in two F-94 aircraft on training mission at 26,000 feet south of Thule Air Base, Greenland, sighted a glowing oblong bluish-white object at approximately 29,000 feet. Object moved south to north, straight and level, with estimated speed of 1000 knots. Observed for approximately 2-3 seconds. The pilot turned into the heading of the object but no interception was accomplished and no airborne radar contact established. Observers stated object was unlike any astronomical or meteorological phenomenon previously encountered.
