Narrative
At 1800Z on 9 September 1955, Mrs. Marjorie Nell Dawkins (age 31) of 1507 Redwood Avenue, Alcoa, Tennessee, first observed an unidentified object while sitting in her yard. She called neighbor Mrs. Alice Carol Jackson (age 33) at 1509 Redwood Avenue to share the sighting. The object appeared solid and moved in a circular motion from north to northeast at slow speed, then moved off behind trees and over the horizon. Total duration was 60 to 75 minutes. Observed with binoculars. Eastern Airlines reported no aircraft in the immediate area; weather was clear with no balloon launches.
