IR-3-53 — 1953-07-09 — Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas (5th Street ho
Narrative
On 9 July 1953 at approximately 1205, A/2C Robert G. Peeler observed a silvery-white object high above Sheppard AFB. After two B-25s passed overhead, he noticed the object, which initially appeared circular (~1.5 inches at arm's length) at very high altitude. It descended rapidly while traveling NW-to-SE, reaching a lower altitude where it appeared elliptical and conical with a phosphorescent metallic glow and was spinning horizontally. After one second it climbed rapidly to the SW and disappeared behind buildings. Total observation 8-10 seconds. A/2C Grimes and A/2C Porter corroborated the description. No vapor or smoke.
