Narrative

At 0525 daylight time on 3 May 1955, a former Navy Air Corps officer observed a peculiar flattish black arrowhead-shaped phenomenon from a 7th floor Manhattan apartment, traveling due east toward LaGuardia Field for five minutes. The object maintained a constant one-eighth mile distance from a stratiform cloud layer apex. Examined with Mark 28 Navy binoculars; no facets of interior construction were exposed. The object then receded laterally due north, growing smaller and dimmer until disappearing. Resolved as possibly cloud formation.
