Narrative
Multiple GOC and civilian sightings on 23 August 1956 reported a round brilliant-red light with a fiery comet-like tail traveling east near Fontana CA (0225Z), then descending behind the horizon at Mt Lola (0302Z), then two yellow-white lights in formation near La Jolla (0355Z), then a second fiery red light heading west toward Catalina Island (2300Z). Observers described the first as moving slowly with a fiery tail similar to a jet with afterburner. Reports were grouped as similar but the conclusion was not stated.
