AISS-UFOB-206-55 — 1955-03-30 — San Jose, California (Evergreen area)
Narrative
On 30 March 1955 at 0755Z, an oblong, bright green object was sighted falling from sky toward earth before stopping and making an arc, then fading and disappearing from sight after about five seconds. The observer reported the object as on fire; Mr. Rippey of the Santa Clara County Communications Center sent personnel to check for fires in the area but none were found. A Sheriff's unit in San Jose also reported an object at about the same time. Light rain began at 0705Z. The Sheriff's unit opined the object was a shooting star; flight path, color, and length of sighting made the meteor explanation plausible.
