Narrative

On approximately 21 September 1954 (interpreted from 'Sept 54' context) between 1915 PST and 1950 PST, a civilian observer at Venice Beach, California observed a huge round fireball-like object, yellowish orange changing color, approximately 50 degrees above horizon, estimated 50 miles offshore. Object was stationary and then moved seaward 5-6 times until out of sight, total observation 35 minutes. Watched via opera glasses. 27th Air Division scrambled two F-94Cs airborne at 2006P, turned over to LAX tower and LAX radio control; aircraft unable to locate anything to confirm. Observer had reportedly seen a similar object 19 September but did not report. Reported by 2347th Air Reserve Flying Center, Long Beach Municipal Airport.
