180th Bomb Sq (L) UFOB report 9 Feb 55 — 1955-02-09 — New highway intersection north of Platte City, Missouri (IK
Narrative
On 9 February 1955 at approximately 0010-0050Z (night), Reverend Sandall, Reverend J. Perry, and children in a car at a new highway intersection north of Platte City, Missouri observed six lights initially in string formation, white-tinged-yellow, accompanying an unusual reciprocating-engine-like sound. One light faded; the remaining five formed a V and climbed out at 30-45 degrees elevation. Total sighting approximately 20 minutes. Reported via 180th Bombardment Squadron Missouri ANG (Major Charles Enos noting familiarity with both conventional and jet aircraft from his work near Forbes AFB). Headquarters opined the lights were possibly single-engine jets from Grandview or other nearby bases.
