OPS 144-3 / INT 1-55 — 1955-03-11 — Christiansburg, West Virginia (vicinity, 733rd ACWRON Charle
Narrative
On approximately 11 March 1955 around dusk, a 41-year-old observer driving an automobile sighted a saucer-shaped object moving in the sky. Object appeared at about thirty degrees elevation, three to five miles distant. It curved to avoid hitting a cloud. Observation was ground visual while driving auto. The observer appeared sincere and trustworthy and did not want publicity. Check with local weather station showed a balloon released at Point South. Preparing officer (Capt Leo R. Scoles) said the sighting could not be evaluated without giving personal opinion.
