Narrative

On 16 February 1955 at 0047Z (dusk), four civilian observers in New Orleans, Louisiana observed a single round shaped light moving slowly northeast in a falling-leaf weaving motion, changing alternately from orange to yellow. Observer 1 was first in backyard and called observers 2, 3, 4 from inside the house. Object first seen at 110 degrees from true north, 85 degrees above horizon; disappeared at 95 degrees, 15 degrees above horizon. Observed for 4-5 minutes. Flight 2-C of 4602D AISS investigated; concluded contributed to Mardi Gras activity: an escaped balloon.
