Narrative
On approximately 8 November 1956 at 0823Z, a USAF flight engineer of the 718th Bombardment Squadron near Ellsworth AFB observed an object resembling a jet fighter's afterburner flame, traveling straight and level except for a sharp pullup at end of observation, at very high speed. The light suddenly went out at the end of observation; total duration was 8-10 seconds. The observer was reluctant to report due to fear of ridicule. The preparing officer offered no opinion as to identity.
